People across the Town of Ohio and surrounding communities are demanding answers as concerns continue to build over the reported transfer of assets tied to the Poland Fire Company.

What began as questions surrounding Fire Station #2 has now grown into a broader public records investigation involving ownership of operational assets, taxpayer funding, oversight authority, and legal control over equipment that many residents believed was tied to public fire protection services.

According to Town of Ohio Supervisor Dennis Bussey, town officials allegedly received no prior notice before the reported property transfer was filed.

Bussey told The Hillbilly Media / TVOTT Hillbilly News he first became aware of the situation in the middle of last week and stated no one connected to the fire company discussed the matter with town officials beforehand.

He further alleged taxpayer-supported assets may have been involved, stating station contents had been maintained, repaired, or supported using taxpayer funds and town personnel.

Bussey also raised concerns involving what he described as missing equipment, alleged financial mismanagement, and possible conflicts of interest involving overlapping town and fire department roles. Those claims remain unverified at this time, and The Hillbilly Media / TVOTT Hillbilly News continues seeking supporting documentation.

Meanwhile, attorney Bradley M. Pinsky, responding on behalf of the Poland Fire Company, disputes those concerns.

In written responses provided to The Hillbilly Media / TVOTT Hillbilly News, Pinsky stated the Town of Ohio and the Poland Fire District did not need to approve the transfer of assets.

He further stated that the Poland Fire Company is a separate legal entity and not governed by Open Meetings Law requirements.

Pinsky stated the firehouse itself remains with the Poland Fire Company while β€œall assets other than the firehouse” were transferred and approved by fire company membership for continued use by ADK Rescue.

However, when The Hillbilly Media / TVOTT Hillbilly News requested clarification regarding one of the most critical public questions β€” specifically who originally purchased those transferred assets and whether taxpayer district funds were involved β€” no direct response was provided.

That unanswered question has now become central to the investigation.

Publicly posted Poland Joint Fire District budget records reviewed by The Hillbilly Media / TVOTT Hillbilly News show taxpayer appropriations for:

  • apparatus and vehicle-related funding
  • fuel and operational support
  • Station #1 and Station #2 maintenance
  • repairs and upkeep
  • reserve apparatus purchasing

Notably, district records include an apparatus purchase reserve allocation that raises legitimate public questions about whether district taxpayer funds may have supported equipment now reportedly transferred.

At this stage, the budget records alone do not establish ownership of any transferred assets.

But they do establish a documented public financial trail that now demands clarification.

Residents are now asking:

If taxpayer money helped purchase, maintain, insure, or replace operational equipment, who legally owned those assets?

And if those assets were publicly funded, should taxpayers have been notified before any transfer occurred?

The Hillbilly Media / TVOTT Hillbilly News is continuing to review:

  • district budget records
  • property filings
  • meeting minutes
  • nonprofit documentation
  • ownership records
  • transfer filings

to determine exactly what was transferred, who owned it, how it was funded, and whether public assets were involved.

We will continue following this story.
