According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to a residence in Perinton on May 9, 2026, around 3:19 p.m. for reports involving the alleged abduction of a woman and her two children. Authorities stated information received during the initial call indicated the situation may have involved another family member with the intent to leave the area.

Investigators say deputies immediately began collecting surveillance footage from nearby residences and were able to obtain images of vehicles and individuals who may have been connected to the case.

As the investigation developed, officials deployed numerous additional resources due to concerns the victims could be in danger. Authorities also notified multiple agencies and partners including the New York State Thruway Authority, the Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport, Canada Border Services Agency, and New York State Police Special Investigations Unit.

A county-wide BOLO alert was issued during the search.

According to officials, information gathered during the investigation eventually led law enforcement officers to a residence in Rochester where the woman and two children were located unharmed.

Authorities stated that three individuals were taken into custody during the investigation and later charged.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office identified those charged as:

  • Gamil S. Ahmed, 31, of Rochester
  • Omar Saleh, 30, of Rochester
  • Dajour L. Paul, 26, of Brooklyn

Officials say all three were charged with three counts each of Kidnapping in the Second Degree, a Class B felony.

Authorities also stated the investigation remains active as law enforcement continues searching for Amar Saleh and works to determine the circumstances leading up to the incident.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office credited multiple agencies for assisting in the response, including the FBI, New York State Police, Rochester Police Department, Greece Police Department, Irondequoit Police Department, Monroe County SWAT and K9 teams, Child Protective Services, the U.S. Marshals Service, and others.

At this time, authorities have not publicly released additional details regarding the relationship between those involved or what specifically led up to the incident.
