According to statements released by the Rome Police Department, Patrol Division officers responded to an upstairs apartment at 601 N. Washington Street in the City of Rome for a reported overdose investigation.
Police identified the individual involved as Courtney Robinson, DOB 8/26/1983. Authorities stated Robinson was allegedly irate and uncooperative while officers were investigating the situation.
According to police, Robinson allegedly made statements claiming she had turned on the gas in the apartment and was going to blow up the apartment building. Officers further allege she held a lighter and attempted to ignite it multiple times, creating what police described as a dangerous situation for herself, officers, and other residents inside the building.
Authorities stated Robinson was transported to Rome Health for a mental health evaluation after allegedly making statements indicating she did not want to live anymore.
Police say that after being released from Rome Health, Robinson was transported back to Rome Police Headquarters, where she was charged with Attempted Arson in the Second Degree.
Officials stated she was processed and transported to the Oneida County Jail pending arraignment.
At this time, no additional information has been released regarding the condition of anyone involved or whether additional charges may follow.
