The announcement has sparked serious concern throughout the Amsterdam community as residents process the details released by local law enforcement surrounding the allegations.
According to the Amsterdam Police Department, Rohan Monisar, 63, of Amsterdam, was arrested on May 26, 2026, on Guy Park Avenue Extension following what police described as a separate investigation into reports of inappropriate sexual conduct first received in April.
Police say Monisar has been charged with:
- Attempted Forcible Compulsion 1st Degree (Class C Felony)
- Forcible Touching (A Misdemeanor)
Authorities stated the investigation involved two separate reports. In one incident, police allege Monisar attempted to engage in forcible sexual contact with an adult female victim. In a second reported incident, investigators allege inappropriate physical contact involving another adult female victim.
Amsterdam Police say both alleged incidents reportedly occurred on separate dates and at separate locations within the City of Amsterdam.
Following his arrest, Monisar was arraigned before Honorable Judge Lisa Lorman in Amsterdam City Court and remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility in lieu of:
- $55,000 cash bail
- $50,000 partially secured surety bond
- $10,000 insurance company bail bond
The investigation was assisted by the Montgomery County District Attorneyβs Office.
